We see this because he keeps hallucinating, sightedness and hearing medicament. He doesnt understand if it is really there or if he is just loosing it a bit. But at the end of the cinema when Halder is in a camp and sees and hears Jew prisoners play music with instruments, he realizes that they are really there this time. And at that moment we see him questioning if he was hallucinating all along, or if the music was real. Good, turned out to be a great movie.
